BNSF Mandota Subdivision

BNSF_2_sm.jpgDuneland is completing bridge reconstruction work over the Chicago Sanitary and Shipping Canal at BNSF’s Mandota Subdivision near Cicero, Illinois. The project includes replacement of two double-track bridges for which Duneland is providing construction layout.

These projects are part of BNSF’s capital commitment plan for 2014 of approximately $5 billion.  Many of the line and terminal-related projects that are part of this large capital plan are being made to support velocity improvements and add capacity to handle volume increases related to the energy business and other commodities that move on these segments

In total, these projects include 950 miles of railway, 3.5 million ties, 650 miles of undercutting, 4,900 miles of shoulder 

ballast cleaning, 8,500 miles of track and division surfacing, 4,900 miles of high-speed track surfacing and 229 bridge projects.
